Queen Louise Home Gets Early Christmas Gift

Dec. 17, 2008 – The St. Thomas Fire Fighter car wash group has raised funds to donate a wheelchair to the Department of Human Services' Queen Louise Home for the Aged. The official presentation will be made to the home at 9 a.m., on Thursday, Dec 18.
Approximately 25 fire service employees started the car wash fundraising effort to support fellow servicemen and their families in their time of need. The success of the effort motivated the group to also serve the community. Fire fighter Selwyn Gumbs explained the decision to buy a wheelchair for the Queen Louise Home was a collective idea by all members of the group. Monies raised will also be used to purchase toys for the children at the Nana Baby Home for Children, which will be delivered on Christmas day.
