Perlita H. Kelley, also known as "Perly Gumbs," of Mount Pleasant died on Jan. 9, at her residence. She was 87 years old.
She is survived by her daughter, Disney James; son, Kenneth James; grandchildren: Eulyn Halliday, Sherrylyn and Heather Liburd, Kristin and Yasmin Farrell, Leroy Springer, Karema, Sherifa, Tricia, Craig, Shawn, Dion, Kervin, Michael and Delvin James, Hilda Hodge, Juanita Bernire, Winston and Lorna Warner, Grenville James, Kenneth Phillips, Sherlon James, Benson and Newton James, and Sharon James; special great-grandchildren: Natasha Warner and Otis Parris; 53 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by granddaughter-in-law, Laverne James; great-daughter-in-law, Victoria Parris; grandsons-in-law: Charles, Myron, Alson and Winston; nephews: Leonard Ceasar and Basil Richards; special friends: Rita Berry-Thomas, Wilfred Springer, Scott Liburd, Ms. Cora, Ms. George, Ms. Naomi, Violet Rodgers and Ms. Dixon; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at the Ebenezer Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
