Maude C. King Dies at 72

Maude C. King Maude C. King, also known as “Granny," of L.B.J. Gardens died on June 9 at her residence. She was 72 years old.
She survived by her daughters: Patricia Tita King and Barbara King; adopted daughter, Latoya Alexander; sons: Cyprian Jr., Roy Malachi Phillips, Clemence Jomo King and Kevin Bulla King; adopted son, Omar Roberts; grandchildren: Kamali Burke, Malachi, Cymandie, Robbie, Demoi and Joshua Phillips, Spanesia Mama Anderson, Steve Isaac Jr., Keshawn Martin, Rasheeda and Zarina King; daughters-in-law: Mabel, Jennifer and Hazel King; son-in-law, Kiture Speedy Burke; nephew, Mark Stevens; aunts: Reubenia V. Stevens-Hill, Emma E. Stevens-Penn and Eva E. Stevens-Blackwood; and uncle, Rudman L. Stevens. She is also survived by godchildren: Dianne Shillingford, Eugene Mason, Latanya Graham and Kahlil Stevens and many others; special cousins: Floyd Stevens, Fonnella, Eugene, Horace and Eura Stevens; other relatives: the children of the late great uncles Obediah and Adonijah Joseph Stevens; children and cousins of uncles Alexander and Conrad Stevens, and aunt Rosalia Stevens-White.
Other survivors include special friends: Esther Thomas, Tyra Thompson, Elroy Gerard, Elroy Edwards, Adell Nicholas, Lena Springer, Aretha George, Ricky Williams, Denise Daniels, Deane Martin, Gene Anderson, Dean Henry, the Graham family, Sylvia Archibald and family, Marcia Johnson and family, the Woods family, the Branch family, Glenda Harris and family, the Hendricks family, Julie Mintas and family, the whole L.B.J. family circle and Vanidades Hair Salon; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 22, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Christiansted Cemetery.
