Hurchell Greenaway Dies at 69

Hurchell Greenaway Hurchell Greenaway died on May 22. He was born on May 20, 1945, in Liberta, Antigua, to Iris and George Greenaway. Hurchell grew up in Antigua and relocated to St. Croix in 1968. He was a real estate developer, and a seasoned and prominent hotelier and restaurateur. While he began his career as a waiter and bartender, he eventually became the manager and owner of several hotels and restaurants, to include the Harbor Master Restaurant at Hotel on the Cay for the past 34 years.
Hurchell was a loving, caring and kind individual who lived a full life. He leaves to mourn his wife, Vivian Greenaway; daughters: Alleda Greenaway-Beadle, Nichole Greenaway-Hinds and Shayla Greenaway; sons: Hurchell Greenaway Jr., Khalid Greenaway and Lance Greenaway; grandchildren: Selina and Scott Titre; Nijhani, Nikhai and Naliya Hinds, Nyasia Browne and Joshua Greenaway; and sisters: Helen Jackson, Marilyn O’Halloran, Loleta Camacho, Genett Greenaway-Browne, Jasmine Greenaway and Ernestine Greenaway.
He is also survived by brothers: Arthnell Greenaway and Whitfield Greenaway; nieces and nephews: Varona, Marcus and Monica Jackson, Lucia Jackson-Chapman, Brian and Gennar Gillead, Natasha O’Halloran-Smith, Robert and Nneka O’Halloran, Ruleta, Rufilo and Ruleo Camacho, Mariska Browne-Lafleur, Juhn-Luke Browne, Bernice Greenaway-Chavez, Boyce, Boyd, Bernard, Kemberly, Keila, Sanchia, Karen and Tricia Greenaway, Janil Greenaway-Jancevski, Andy Watts, Kerry George, Kemeko Scotland and Kayle Scotland-Williams;
Other survivors include great nieces and nephews: too numerous to mention; daughter-in-law, Angela Bell-Greenaway; sons-in-law: Leon Beadle and Nigel Hinds; father-in-law: Artie Jones II; brothers-in-law: Vasil Jackson, Richard O’Halloran, Rufus Camacho, Artie Jones III and Adam Jones; sisters-in-law: Patsy Greenaway and Erika Thompson; and special friends: too numerous to mention. He was preceded in death by: Iris Greenaway (mother), George Greenaway (father) and Molvair Jackson (niece).
A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on St. Croix, U.S Virgin Islands.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Croix Chapter of the American Cancer Society (P.O. Box 6987, Christiansted, VI 00823) or the Gov. Juan Francisco Luis Hospital and Medical Center Hemodialysis Unit (4007 Estate Diamond Ruby, Christiansted, VI 00821).
The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at the Juan Francisco Luis Hospital for the professional and loving care that they gave him.
