Man Dies After Being Hit by Car on St. Thomas

A pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a car while he was crossing Morovian Highway Friday evening, the V.I. Police Department reported.

The pedestrian was identified by next of kin as 55-year-old Rodney George.

According to police, at 8:29 p.m. Friday, a dark-colored vehicle traveling west on Moravian Highway in the vicinity of the Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency headquarters hit George, who was crossing the roadway heading north.

George, was transported to the Schneider Regional Medical Center via ambulance, but died of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene after the accident.

This incident is under investigation by the VIPD Traffic Investigation Bureau.
