A man wanted for attempted murder after a woman was shot in the chest Monday afternoon on St. Croix has surrendered to police, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday morning.
Police issued an all-points bulletin for Calvin Parker, 24, of Christiansted after the 911 call center received reports of shots fired about 4:33 p.m. Monday at the Marley Housing Apartments. Responding officers found a woman shot in the chest. She was taken to Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital for treatment, where she remains in serious but stable condition, according to the police report.
“Members of the Criminal Investigation Bureau responded and made contact with members of the community who reported that Calvin Parker had an argument with the victim. That Mr. Parker became enraged and shot the victim in the chest,” the report stated.
Police said the woman was shot point blank with an automatic rifle and is related to Parker.
At 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, Parker surrendered at the Wilbur H. Francis Command Police Station, where he was booked and his bail set at $100,000, according to the report. Unable to post bail, he was transported to the John A. Bell Correctional Facility on St. Croix, pending his advice of rights hearing that is scheduled for Wednesday in the Superior Court, police said.
Parker is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree assault, carrying a firearm openly or concealed, and aiming and discharging a firearm, the report stated.
According to Superior Court documents, Parker was released from jail May 5 while awaiting trial on weapons and domestic violence charges and was required to abide by a 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew but was not subject to the supervision of a third party custodian or GPS monitoring.
According to the court docket, Parker was charged in April 2022 with unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition and reckless endangerment after a single shot was fired in the air at the Mutual Homes housing community on St. Croix.
In February, he was charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm, second-degree assault domestic violence, and disturbance of the peace, according to Superior Court records.
In that case, Parker was accused of attempting to strangle his girlfriend on Oct. 7 at the Mutual Homes housing community in Frederiksted.
According to the court docket, he accepted a global plea agreement on April 11 that covers both cases, agreeing to plead guilty to unauthorized possession of a firearm. The government is seeking a suspended sentence of five years, with three years of supervised probation, a fine of $10,000, a requirement that Parker attend anger management classes, and that he have no unlawful contact with the victim.

A St. Croix man wanted for attempted murder is said to be armed and dangerous, the V.I. Police Department warned the community Monday.
Calvin Parker, 24, who is Black, is 5 feet, 10 inches tall with black hair and blonde tips, brown eyes, and weighs 130 pounds, according to the police report.
Parker is known to frequent the Marley Homes community, the police report stated.
If any person is harboring Parker, this will result in jail time, police say.
