Woman Allegedly Struck In Face With Firearm

A St. Thomas woman was allegedly assaulted with a firearm by a family member Saturday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

VIPD officers were dispatched to the area of the Bovoni Housing Community about a possible assault incident, according to the police report.

When officers arrived on scene, they spoke with a woman who explained that she made a stop outside of a family residence upon arriving in the Nadir Circle area. While outside, she explained that one of her male family members approached her vehicle and pressed a firearm against her face and then proceeded to strike her several times to the face, the police report stated.

The victim further explained that after being struck, she immediately left the area to avoid any further incident due to her having two passengers in her vehicle, one of whom was a minor, the report stated.

This case is presently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone with any information regarding this crime is urged to contact 911, Detective S. Rhymer of the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 or Crime Stoppers V.I. at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
