Man Arrested on St. Croix for Allegedly Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend

A St. Croix man was arrested on Oct. 6 for allegedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

On Oct. 5, a woman reported to VIPD that she was assaulted by her ex-boyfriend, Earl Andre, in September, according to the police report.

The woman stated that during the assault, she was strangled numerous times to the point that she was unable to breathe. She also added that while Andre was strangling her, he repeatedly told her that he would kill her in the presence of her infant son, who was lying on the bed during the assault, the police report stated.

The alleged victim did not report the assault immediately because she was in fear for her safety and her family’s safety due to threats that Andre made to her. Eventually, she overcame her fears and decided to report the assault after a series of incidents in which Andre continued to harass, taunt, and slander her name, the report stated.

Andre, age 22, was arrested on Oct. 7 and charged with assault second-DV and as per the domestic violence statute, no bail was issued. He was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
