Man’s Death Marks St. Thomas’ 20th Homicide for 2023

A man died Thursday after succumbing to gunshot injuries, the V.I. Police Department reported.

At approximately 10:35 a.m., a man was dropped off at Schneider Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his upper body. The male was rushed into surgery but subsequently succumbed to his injuries, according to the police report.

The man’s next of kin identified him as 19-year-old Nashai Francis, the police report stated.

Francis’s death marks the 20th homicide on St. Thomas this year and the 37th for the territory, according to the Source Homicide List.* 17 people have been killed on St. Croix.
