Sylvia Medora Bridgewater Dies at 68

Sylvia Medora BridgewaterSylvia Medora Bridgewater, also known as "Sylvie," of La Grande Princesse died on Aug. 24, at Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital. She was 68 years old.

She is survived by her spouse, George A. Bridgewater; stepmother: Marie Grant; daughters: Denise V. Woods, Patricia Bridgewater-Compton and Evetta M. Bridgewater-Patrick; sons: Bernelle Grant and George Vally Bridgewater; stepson, Leroy Bridgewater; grandchildren: Sheneal Patrick, Trevor Patrick Jr., Daijah, Jamal, Jah-heem, Omya and Deneshia Bridgewater, Ashley and Bakari Compton. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Donna Jack Bridgewater; sons-in-law: Trevor O. Patrick Sr. and Claudius Compton; sisters: Claudette Woods-Green, Olga Dore Woodley, Lorna Dore Huggins, Jennifer Dore, Gloria Weekes, Lorna Grant, Ezra Grant and Cynthia Warner; brothers: Euston Dore, Bertie Dore, David Dick Dore, Wesley Dore, Chesney Grant, Valentine, Warrington and Tony Grant; nieces: Des Kimmoy Dore, Jolleen, Te’amo Dore, Sade, Crystal Dore, Mikhaila Woodley, Chantil and Jettie Dore, Sheria Green, Jillioan Gumbs, Ava Weekes-Murray, Wendy Weekes, Rosemond Creighton, Linda McBean and Sherry Dore; and nephews: Clive, Donley, Mikhail Woodley, Zane Green, Javid, Jermaine, Tejay and Andre Dore, Donley, Darien and Chette Dore, Leon Lake, Wesley Dore Jr., Tadj Dore, Shamir Dore and Christopher Weekes.
Other survivors include sisters-in-law: Geraldine Dore and Peachy Grant; brothers-in-law: John Green, Franchette Woodley and Joseph Huggins; aunt: Alvira "Aunty Winter" Maynard; cousins: Cecil and Olinda Levine Frances, Esther Maynard, Daisy and Maisie Saunders, Evelyn Benjamin and the Cotton family; special friends: the Pimentel family, Arnold and Jacqueline Payne, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew, Delores Gumbs and family, St. Croix EMS, Carmen Wheatley and Blanche Daniel; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 3, at St. Peter’s Anglican Church. Interment will follow at Kingshill Cemetery.
