St. Croix Educational Complex High School senior Bruce Kelly has been named as a semifinalist in the 47th Annual National Achievement Scholarship program by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), according to Principal Kurt Vialet. Kelly is among more than 1,600 scholastically talented black American high school seniors who now have an opportunity to compete for about 800 achievement scholarship awards, worth more than $2.5 million, to be offered next spring. Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the finalist level of the competition and to be considered for a scholarship.
