Fatal Shooting of a 21-Year-Old Man on St. Croix Under Investigation

 

A man was shot and killed on St. Croix Saturday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Shots fired in the Profit Hills Housing Community in Estate Profit, and a male victim down, were reported to 911 by concerned citizens Saturday, the police report stated.

When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered a man with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim succumbed to his injuries and he was pronounced dead on the scene by the medical examiner, according to the police report.

The deceased was identified by next of kin as 21-year-old Joshua Lee, police said.

Lee’s death is the 23rd homicide on St. Croix in 2022, according to the Source Homicide List. The territory has had a total of 32 homicides this year.

According to Criminal Investigation Bureau Chief Detective Lt. Naomi Joseph, Lee was a person of interest in one of two homicides that occurred on Aug. 24.

During one of the incidents, 47-year-old Jose Berrios was shot and killed
in the Profit Hills Housing Community with a high-powered rifle.
