St. Croix Man Arrested for Burglarizing Ex-Girlfriend’s Residence

A St. Croix man turned himself into police and was charged with burglary on Thursday, the V.I. Police Department reported.

911 Emergency Call Center received a call from an adult male on Tuesday to report that his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend, Jelani Ferdinand, was breaking into her apartment through the kitchen window, the police report stated.

An investigation revealed that Ferdinand was armed with a green pocketknife upon entry. A physical altercation occurred between both male individuals inside the residence and continued outside the apartment building, according to the report.

According to the victim, Ferdinand accused him of physically abusing his minor son. The victim sustained a laceration to his right index finger and a bruise to his left arm; however, he declined medical assistance. Ferdinand fled the scene operating a blue Toyota Yaris, police said.

Jelani Ferdinand, 27, turned himself into police and was arrested without incident on Thursday. He was charged with burglary and his bail was set at $75,000. Unable to post bond, he was remanded to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing.
