Man Shot During Late-Night Robbery in Cruz Bay

A man was shot after an altercation with a robber Saturday night on St. John, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

The man told police that he and his co-workers were walking towards the ferry dock in Cruz Bay about 11 p.m. Thursday and were near the post office when a man armed with a firearm approached and demanded his belongings, according to the police report.

The man said that he got into a physical altercation with the robber, which resulted in him being shot. He said the man took his belongings and fled the area in an unknown direction.

The police report did not indicate whether the victim was treated for his injuries.

The case remains under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau.
