Verbal Altercation Leads to Death Threats

A St. Thomas woman was arrested Thursday for pointing a gun at two people and making death threats, the V.I. Police Department reported.

Joanne Rhymer, 54, was arrested and charged with assault in the third degree, reckless endangerment in the first degree, brandishing & exhibiting or using deadly weapons and disturbance of the peace, according to the police report.

The two victims told police that they became involved in a verbal altercation with  Rhymer’s parent, who is their neighbor. According to the victims, shortly thereafter, Rhymer arrived, exited her vehicle, and pointed a firearm at them while making death threats. Video surveillance supported the victims’ accounts, the police report stated.

This case is currently under investigation by the Criminal Investigation Bureau. Anyone having information regarding this crime is encouraged to contact 911, Detective Y.
