A St. Croix man wanted for assault with a baseball bat has been arrested, the V.I. Police Department reported Thursday.

On July 7, the 911 Emergency Call Center received notification from a concerned citizen of a physical altercation in progress at the Canegata Ball Park. Police arrived and quelled the fight, according to the police report.

Officers spoke with one of the individuals involved in the fight and he admitted that he struck one of his teammates in the head with a bat. The victim was transported to Juan F. Luis Hospital and arrived with a life-threatening head injury, the report stated.

Rasheed Knight, 24, turned himself into police in the presence of his attorney and he was arrested and charged with attempted murder, assault in the first degree, assault in the third degree, carrying or using a dangerous weapon, and aggravated assault and battery, the report stated.

His bail was set at $100,000. As per Superior Court Magistrate Brow-Ross, Knight was released to his father, pending his advice of rights hearing, police said.
