A St. Thomas man was arrested at the airport for drug possession, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

The Criminal Investigation Bureau was notified Saturday at about 8:00 p.m. by Customs and Border Protection and dispatched to the Cyril E. King Airport in reference to someone being in possession of marijuana, according to the police report.

When CIB arrived on scene and contact was made with CBP officers, it was explained that they discovered 28.28 pounds of marijuana inside the luggage of 30-year-old D’Jon B. Heyliger, who was detained pending the arrival of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, the police report stated.

Heyliger was advised of his Constitutional Rights, and transported to the Alexander Farrelly Justice Complex, Criminal Investigation Bureau where he was booked, processed, and remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, the report stated.

He was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and his bail was set at $7,500 by order of the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, police said.
