Franklin Powell Sr. Park served as a lively backdrop for a weekend health fair in Cruz Bay. Workers from the Agriculture and Health Departments teamed up with Schneider Regional Medical Center and Viya to stage the event.

Displays lined up across the street facing the park were filled with colorful produce; families holding ID cards from the Women’s Infants and Children’s program were invited to stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables. Youngsters entertained themselves in a bounce house set up in front of the Morris F. deCastro Clinic.

Health officials performed health screening tests at the Franklin Park bandstand. Business owners set up in the park for a holiday vendor’s fair and took advantage of free blood pressure and weight control readings, eye exams, and blood glucose tests.

Forty-seven visitors participated in Saturday’s health screenings.

A raffle drawing from Viya topped off the festivities. Hilda Anthony from John’s Folly produced the winning ticket for a new cell phone and one year of free service.
