A St. Thomas man was shot and killed early Wednesday, the V.I. Police Department reported.
According to police next of kin identified the victim as 25-year-old Mikal Dore.
The Source homicide listing notes this was the fifth homicide on St. Thomas since the beginning of the year, the seventh in the territory. The Source list is based on VIPD reports, but unlike the VIPD list and those in some other media, it does not include suicides or vehicular homicides, leading to some variance in totals.
According to the police report, at about 12:25 a.m. Wednesday the 911 emergency call center received a call from a concerned citizen of shots fired in Estate Thomas. Officers traveled to the area and found an unresponsive male, later identified as Dore, sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds about his body.
Emergency medical technicians on the scene concluded that Dore did not have any signs of life.
Police urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact 911, the Criminal Investigation Bureau at 340-774-2211 ext. 5569 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477.
