Department of Health Reports Territory’s 19th COVID Death

The Virgin Islands Department of Health reported via press release on Thursday that an 82-year-old St. Thomas man is the territory’s 19th confirmed COVID-19 death.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 in the USVI has been dropping. However, the most recent death is a reminder that the disease is a threat, even as the territory begins another transition into safer-at-home protocols, easing some restrictions once more as of Sept. 8.

The Department of Health urged residents to continue to follow these precautionary measures: stay at home, practice social distancing, wear a mask when in the company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly and wash your hands often with soap and warm water.

To report a suspected case of COVID-19, please call 340-712-6299 or 340-776-1519. Those with a medical emergency should call 911. For more information, visit covid19usvi.com. For COVID-19 updates, text COVID19USVI to 888777.
