A man was killed Saturday evening in what the V.I. Police Department described as a reckless shooting.
The victim was identified by next of kin as 19-year-old Nathaniel Felix. According to the Source homicide list*, it was the 21st homicide on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 41st in the territory.
According to the police, at about 8:20 p.m. Oct. 31, the 911 emergency call center received reports of shots being fired in Concordia West on St. Croix.
At the scene, police were told a dark-colored car drove to the Concordia Manor neighborhood and fired shots, striking a male victim, later identified as Felix. He was transported to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Hospital by private vehicle for treatment but later died from his injuries.
Police urged anyone with any information that could help resolve the case to contact the VIPD by calling 911, the Crime Tip Line at 340-778-4950 or the anonymous tip service, Crime Stoppers USVI, at 1-800-222-8477 (1-800-222-TIPS).
“We have yet another family mourning the loss of a loved one,” St. Croix District Chief of Police Sidney Elskoe said. “As I said before, we must come together as a community to say, ‘No more,’ to senseless gun violence.”
*The Source homicide list is based on reports from the V.I. Police Department, but unlike the police or some other media, the Source does not include suicides or vehicular homicides, which can cause a difference in the number of incidents.
