Suspect Wanted for Attempted Murder in Custody

The St. Croix man wanted for attempted murder is now in custody, the V.I. Police Department reported Tuesday.

On Monday at about 8:00 a.m., Randy L. Lawerence, 30, turned himself into the police. He was subsequently advised of his Miranda Rights and charged with attempted murder in the first degree, assault in the first degree, and possession of a dangerous weapon during the commission of a crime of violence, the police report stated.

Lawrence’s bail was set at $100,000.00. He was unable to post bail and was transported to the John Bell Correctional Facility pending his advice of rights hearing at the Superior Court Tuesday.

Police are searching for a suspect in an attempted murder after a man was shot in the stomach Friday afternoon outside a restaurant on St. Croix.

According to the V.I. Police Department, 911 received a call at 4:26 p.m. on Friday that a man was shot in the stomach near E&D Restaurant in Estate Mountain. The victim, who was found on the ground with a single gunshot to his stomach, was transported to Juan Luis Hospital by ambulance, police reported.

He underwent emergency life-saving surgery and is listed in very serious but stable condition, according to the VIPD.

The suspect has been identified as Randy Lawrence, 30, of Lorraine Village.

“Attempts to locate him have been fruitless at this point. Anyone hiding him is harboring a fugitive and will be charged accordingly. Mr. Lawrence is wanted for attempted murder and other firearm charges,” the VIPD reported.

Lawrence is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 140 pounds, with brown eyes, brown hair and a light complexion. He is known to frequent the Estate Whim, Lorraine Village and Hannah’s Rest areas of St. Croix, police said.
