The V.I. Police Department identified the victim as 25-year-old Kadeem Baptiste. He was the 10th homicide victim on St. Croix since the beginning of the year, the 11th in the territory, according to the Source homicide list.*

Baptiste was one of six people shot on Feb. 27 at the Corner Pocket. According to the police report, at around 11:43 p.m., Feb. 27, the emergency call center received a report of shots fired and a man down at the Corner Pocket Grillhouse and Nightclub in Estate La Reine. Six individuals were wounded by the gunfire, with one man dying of his injuries at the hospital. That victim was identified as Du’Juan Tyson, 23. Four other victims received injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Baptiste, the sixth victim, was airlifted to a hospital on the mainland for treatment, where he died on March 6.
