The driver of the vehicle, later identified as Perez, had gunshot wounds about the body. He was transported to the Gov. Juan F. Luis Memorial Hospital for treatment, and later succumbed to his injuries.

The incident is being investigated by the VIPD Major Crime Unit. Police urged anyone with information about the homicide is urged to call 911, the Crime Tip Line at 340-778-4950 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
