VIPD: Man Holds Ex-partner Hostage at Gunpoint

A woman on St. Croix reported that her ex-partner moved into her home without her permission while she was at work and, threatened her, the V.I. Police Department reported Monday.

According to the police report, the victim was driving to work Sunday and her ex-partner, Johnny Taylor, was hiding behind the front seat of her vehicle. Taylor surprised the victim and jumped over the seat, pulled a firearm, and demanded that she drive to a Frederiksted beach, it said.

The victim was able to talk Taylor out of his demands, and he allowed her to go to work, but not before threatening to kill her if she told anyone, according to police. Taylor also told the victim that he would await her return home, the report stated.

Taylor, 39, was arrested and charged with abduction, assault, and unauthorized possession of a firearm after the victim reported the incident to an officer, the report stated.

No bail was set as per the domestic violence statute and he was remanded to the Bureau of Corrections pending his advice of rights hearing, the police said.
