The Friends of Virgin Islands National Park will host their annual gala from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 5, with park trivia, multiple opportunities to win prizes, and an online auction.

The event, held virtually this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, raises critical funds for the work of the Friends, who advocate for the Virgin Islands’ natural and cultural treasures while connecting visitors to the park and to the community.

To purchase tickets to the event, raffle tickets, and to register for the online auction, visit the gala website.

The auction features everything from romantic dinners, island getaways, and sunset sails to numerous works by local artisans. The auction opens on Friday, Feb. 4 at 9 a.m. and will run through Monday, Feb. 28 at 3 p.m.

The raffle includes a Golden Ticket jewelry prize, donated by R&I Patton, known as an Indian wedding necklace. The necklace comprises five strands of yellow sapphire faceted beads strung on an 18k yellow gold handmade clasp. Each strand ends with an 18k handmade bead. The clasp is set with natural color diamonds, with 12 individual stones total. Completing the set is a pair of yellow sapphire faceted briolette earrings. The retail value of the set is $4,990, according to the Friends news release.

Tickets for this prize, at $100 each, will be sold until 3 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 28 or until sold out. The raffle drawing will take place later that day and winners will be notified by the end of the week, according to a press release. Regular raffle tickets are $25 each or five for $100.
