Man Abducted in Downtown Frederiksted

A man was abducted Wednesday from Frederiksted and taken to various ATMs on St. Croix to withdraw money for his captors before he was released with minor injuries, the V.I. Police Department reported.

It is V.I. Source policy to not reveal the name of a crime victim without the victim’s permission. According to the police report, at about 1:15 p.m. Wednesday the 911 emergency call center received calls reporting an abduction of an adult male from downtown Frederiksted. The man was taken against his will, police said, and transported to multiple locations where his ATM card was used to withdraw money from his account before he was released.

Police urged anyone with information that can help the police find those responsible for the incident to call 911, the Crime Tip Line at 340-778-4950 or Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-8477.
