Virgin Islanders who have not taken the free vaccine against COVID-19 continue to succumb to the contagious illness. A 70-year-old St. Thomas woman has become the territory’s 57th confirmed fatality, according to the Health Department.
No one in the territory who has taken the vaccine has died from the illness, and no one has suffered serious health effects from the vaccine, indicating the recent deaths likely were preventable.
Until a sufficient proportion of the population has been vaccinated to stop the spread of the virus, the Health Department asks residents to please continue to follow these precautionary measures: practice social distancing, wear a mask when in the company of others outside of those in your household, clean frequently used areas thoroughly, and wash your hands often with soap and warm water.

St. Croix’s Community Vaccination Center is located at the Nissan Center in La Grande Princesse, adjacent to the Honda Dealership and The Paint Shop, on the same side of the street as Food Town.
On St. Thomas, the Community Vaccination Center is located at the Community Health Clinic on the second floor at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.
