More than 60 people came out to help clean up St. Thomas on Feb. 6 and 7, thanks to some local companies’ organization and sponsorship. This is the third time BrisaMax, a UVI RTPark tax break beneficiary, has sponsored this event, and Westline Productions helped to produce the event.
“This time we almost doubled what was accomplished last time,” said Jody Olson, one of the volunteers and an organizer of the cleanup. Olson said the groups cleaned up from Lake’s in Smith Bay to the airport. This includes Brookman Road down to Fort Mylner, Round the Field, Backstreet and Nisky center. They filled over 800 bags of trash along with many tires and other large debris. “It’s fantastic to see a community come together like this and take pride in our island,” Olson said.
